From 15 to 17 September 2026, VIAMETRIS returned to INTERGEO in Munich for three intense days of conversations around mobile mapping, LiDAR, data processing and the future of 3D surveying.
After more than ten years of attending INTERGEO (mettre lien), we know the event well. But this year's edition still managed to surprise us!
At Hall B6, Booth B6B065, the VIAMETRIS stand welcomed a particularly high number of visitors from across more than 30 countries. Surveyors, geospatial professionals, existing customers, potential resellers and technology partners all came with questions, and, increasingly, with a clear idea of what they expect from the next generation of mobile mapping systems.
One thing stood out: users are not only looking for performance. They are looking for flexibility and freedom.
A busy three days for VIAMETRIS
We had decided to make VIAMETRIS particularly visible this year
VIAMETRIS was particularly outstanding with a completely redesigned stand and a strong focus on the MS-96 and its different configurations.
And it worked!
The number of visitors exceeded our expectations, leaving very little time for live demonstrations. Instead, conversations continued throughout the three days around the scanners themselves, videos of the MS-96 in operation and point cloud datasets captured in different environments.
The reaction we heard again and again was simple: visitors wanted to see more.
Many conversations that started with a first look at the MS-96 quickly turned into requests for technical specifications, datasets, application examples and further discussions after the show.
For existing VIAMETRIS customers, INTERGEO was also an opportunity to discover the latest evolution of the system and meet the team again.
One MS-96, multiple ways to work
One of the strongest points of interest was the versatility of the MS-96.
Rather than developing a scanner around one specific environment, VIAMETRIS has built the MS-96 as a mobile mapping platform that can adapt to very different field conditions.
At INTERGEO, visitors could discover several configurations:
• Back Pack for pedestrian mobile mapping;
• Front Pack for alternative carrying configurations;
• Light Car Pack for rapid vehicle deployment;
• Pro Car Pack for more advanced vehicle-based acquisition.
The Pro Car Pack, now officially presented as part of the MS-96 ecosystem, generated particularly strong interest.
This modular approach answers a question we heard repeatedly during the show: why invest in several separate scanning systems if one solution can cover multiple applications? Says Jerôme, CEO of Viametris.
From buildings and industrial facilities to roads, urban environments or larger outdoor areas, the ability to move between indoor and outdoor acquisition with the same technology is becoming increasingly important to users.
SLAM is no longer the conversation starter
A few years ago, SLAM itself could be the innovation attracting people to a mobile mapping stand. That is changing…
Most geospatial professionals we met at INTERGEO were already familiar with SLAM and its role in mobile mapping. Discussions are becoming more mature: users now want to understand accuracy, LiDAR performance, cameras, workflow, versatility and what happens to their data after acquisition.
And that last point generated some of the most interesting conversations of the show.
Data ownership is becoming part of the buying decision
Hardware performance remains fundamental, but the scanner is only one part of a mobile mapping workflow. What happens after the scan matters just as much. Visitors showed considerable interest in PPiMMS, VIAMETRIS' post-processing software, particularly when they discovered our approach to licensing and data ownership.
PPiMMS is provided with a perpetual licence. Users are not charged every time they want to process their own data, and their workflow is not dependent on mandatory cloud processing.

For professionals generating large quantities of geospatial data, that distinction matters.
The response at INTERGEO confirmed something we have increasingly observed in discussions with customers: organisations want high-performance technology, but they also want to understand where their data goes, how it can be processed and what costs they will face over the lifetime of their equipment.
In other words, data freedom is becoming part of the product itself.
Growing international interest in VIAMETRIS
INTERGEO is international by nature, and this year's conversations reflected that.
We welcomed visitors from around the world (more than 30 countries in total), with particularly strong representation from European markets. Alongside potential customers, a significant number of companies approached us about becoming VIAMETRIS resellers or developing technology partnerships.
Our international reseller network has recently expanded with a new partner in Croatia, and the response to our reseller campaign during INTERGEO generated many new conversations.
Those applications are now being reviewed. For VIAMETRIS, expanding internationally is not simply about adding dots to a distributor map. The objective is to find partners with the technical expertise, local market knowledge and long-term commitment required to demonstrate and support mobile mapping technology properly.
Companies interested in joining the network can learn more about our VIAMETRIS reseller programme.
What we take away from INTERGEO 2026
Three days of conversations in Munich reinforced several trends
Mobile mapping users increasingly want:
• high-performance and accurate acquisition
• one system capable of operating across different environments
• flexible hardware configurations
• transparent post-processing workflows
• control over their own data
• software models that remain predictable over time
For VIAMETRIS, INTERGEO 2026 was also another demonstration of the international recognition that French geospatial technology can achieve.

After more than a decade of attending INTERGEO, seeing so many professionals stop at our stand, discover the latest MS-96 configurations and ask to continue the conversation after the show was particularly rewarding. The show may be over, but many of those conversations are only beginning…
